Funeral services for John David Avery, Sr. will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2012 in the New Hope Free Methodist Church in Deville with Reverend Stanley Paulk officiating. Committal services will follow in the New Hope Memorial Gardens in Deville under the guidance of White Oaks, Alexandria.
Mr. Avery, 65 of Deville, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 27, 2012 in the Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. He was born on February 20, 1947 in Pineville to the union of John William Avery, Jr. and Audrey Smith Avery. He was a retired Security Guard with Paragon Casino after 16 years of service, and a loving husband, father, brother and friend.
His parents, John William Avery, Jr. and Audrey Smith Avery, brother; Ralph Avery precedes him in death.
He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memory, wife of 16 years, Frances Wilson Avery of Deville; son, John D. Avery, Jr. of Houma; daughter, Alon Avery of Hattisburg, Mississippi; step daughters, Karen R. Vercher of Deville and Sharon K. Johnson of Deville; brothers, Bill Avery and wife Robbie of Baton Rouge, Buster Harold Avery and wife Barbara of Virginia Beach, Virginia; grandchildren, John W. Avery III, Grace L. Avery, Autumn Hartman, Draken Z. Dupre, Xchyler B. Dupree, Leilani E. Gray, Christopher L. Lamma, Donald G. Wade, Jr., Joshua W. Wade and Jacob K. Wade, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at New Hope Free Methodist Church from 5 p.m. until 10 pm and Friday, March 2, 2012 after 9 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m.
In Lieu of Flowers contributions to the family to offset expenses preferred.
