Funeral services celebrating the life of Nelda Powell Coutee will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 8, 2014 at The Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville with Reverend Charles Hutzler and Brother Mark Tullos officiating with Eulogy given by her brother, Raymond Powell. Burial will follow at Bay Springs Cemetery, Chopin.

The family asks that visitation be observed Friday, February 7, 2014 at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and continue Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Pallbearers honored to serve are Richey Guillory, Larry Daniels, Wade Guillory, Jonathan Paul, Sr., Jonathan Paul, Jr., Stephen White and Roger Chapman.

Mrs. Coutee, 80, of Colfax, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at her residence.

Nelda was a member of Alpine First Baptist Church, Tioga since 1972. She was an Elementary School teacher for many years in Port Sulphur before relocating to Central Louisiana and working as a Financial Aid Counselor for Louisiana College and retiring from the Louisiana Baptist Foundation after many years of service as Assistant Director. She was a loving mother and grandmother and friend that will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Coutee and her parents, Allison "Peck" and Marsene Bullock Powell.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Deborah Coutee Guillory and husband, Richey, Marcia Elise Coutee Daniels and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Kayla Guillory Paul and husband, Jonathan Sr., Leah Guillory White and husband Stephen, and Wade Guillory; great grandchildren, Jonathan Paul, Jr., Kallie Paul, Torie Paul and Sophie Paul; brother, Raymond Powell; sisters, Gracie Gallagher and Dinah Layton. A host of other family members and friends.
