She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Robert Benjamin Fowler; her father, Rene Jean Baptiste Drouet of New Orleans, Louisiana, and her mother, Josephine Miller Drouet of Alexandria, Louisiana. She was also preceded in death by her Drouet siblings: Rene, Jr.; Joseph Oliver; Felix Rawlson; John Miller; George Miller; Isaac Carroll, and sister, Lavinia Odile Drouet Thomas.
Carrie Lee married her high school sweetheart in 1937, shortly after graduating from Bolton High School. She dedicated the rest of her life to serving her family, her church and her community. As a life-long member of St. James Episcopal Church, she served as a member of the altar guild, director of junior choir, a Sunday school teacher, an officer of Episcopal Church Women, a member of Daughters of the King, and also volunteered weekly in the church office and bookstore. Her love of cooking led her to serve as chairman of the church hospitality committee.
She was a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy as her grandfather served in the Civil War. Mrs. Fowler served her community by volunteering at Rapides Regional Medical Center for 25 years.
She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Jean Fowler Cloud (husband Fred) of Deer Park, Texas; and Anita Louise Fowler Hill (husband Steve) of Pineville, Louisiana. Carrie Lee was blessed with four grandchildren: Christopher Charles Cloud of Idabel, Oklahoma; Amy Brooke Cloud Cannon of Cypress, Texas; Darren Marcus Hill of Alexandria, Louisiana and Jennifer Lynn Hill Arnold of Monroe, Louisiana; as well as ten great grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be made to St. James Episcopal Church Altar Guild, 1620 Murray Street, Alexandria, La.
