Funeral services for Dorvan Erwin "Earl" Keene were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014, at White Oaks Memorial Chapel of Oakdale. Brother Joel McMickin and Travis Messer officiated. Military rites were conducted by the Barksdale Air Force Honor Guard. Committal service followed in the Willis Flat Cemetery of Glenmora under the guidance of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.
"Earl", 46, of Alexandria, entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 20, 2014 in his residence. He was born on June 30, 1967 in Alexandria to the union of Dorvan Ernest and Freddie Faye Mitcham Keene. He was retired from the Veteran's Administration Hospital, Pineville. He served in the Army National Guard and was a Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He had a great appreciation for airplanes and aviation. He loved duck hunting, fishing, collecting guns, antique cars, and being with his family.
He is preceded in death by his father, Dorvan Ernest Keene; his maternal grandparents, Fred and Callie Mitcham; and his paternal grandparents, Doug and Ruby Temple.
He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Sandra Willis Keene of Alexandria; one son, Christopher of Kansas; one stepson, Quentin of Glenmora; his mother, Freddie of Natchitoches; one brother, Jerel Douglas, wife Amy of Kisatchie; two nieces, Selah and Emily; one nephew, Micah; and a host of aunts, uncles, family and friends.
Pallbearers were Jared Salard, Gerald Salard, Jr., L.C. "Dee" Bourn, David Valley, Daniel Miller, and Justin Thompson. Honorary pallbearers were Steve Thompson, Jimmie Hayes, Leon Poe, George Delong, and James Poe.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph Home Health, special thanks to Jennifer, Paula, and Rita; Thompson Home Health, special thanks to LaVonda and all the workers at the V.A. Medical Center.
