Martha Ann Crutchfield Linzay

Funeral services celebrating the life of Martha Ann Crutchfield Linzay will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2014, in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria, with Dr. David Remedios and Dr. Joshua Joy Dara officiating. Burial will follow at Alexandria Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be observed at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and continue on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Martha Ann Linzay, 80, of Lecompte, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014, at CHRISTUS St. Francis Cabrini Hospital. She was born November 5, 1933 in Sheridan Arkansas to parents William Sterling Crutchfield and Anna Kelly Crutchfield.

Martha graduated from Sheridan High School in 1951 with honors and was valedictorian of her graduating class. She then attended Louisiana College and majored in nursing. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in nursing with honors in 1955 and began working at Baptist Hospital.

Martha came from a lineage of ministers. She was an active member of Trinity Christian Center in Forest Hill. Martha was well known for a lifestyle of selfless acts of service to family and friends. She would never eat at family gatherings until everyone was served and often only sat down at the insistence of her family. She instilled Christian characteristics in all of her family and focused on Christ, love, forgiveness and service. She lived a life as a shining example of being one who was the compassionate hands and heart of Christ.

Martha Ann Crutchfield met Jack M. Linzay while working in Alexandria and they were married August 18, 1956. Martha then transferred to Lafayette where she worked in nursing while Jack went to college.

Martha and Jack, Sr. were married 55 years at the time of his passing in June of 2013. Also preceding Martha in death are her parents, William and Anna Crutchfield and a brother, Bud Crutchfield.

Those left to cherish her memory are her four sons, Jack M. Linzay, Jr., James (Jim) C. Linzay and wife, Jill, John H. Linzay and wife, Rita, and Jeffrey S. Linzay and wife, Tammy; thirteen grandchildren, Brittany, Ashley, Rachel, Jason, Amy, Jessica, Hannah, Emily, Amy, Christopher, Mathew, Michael and Danny; six great grandchildren and a sister, Ida Beth Powell.
