Funeral services for Margie R. East will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville with Pastor Jane Conley officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Hixson Brothers, Pineville Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and continued Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
Mrs. East, 98, of Pineville, passed from this life on Friday, April 4, 2014 in Pearland, Texas.
Mrs. East was a charter member of Woodland Presbyterian Church, Pineville. She was the head dietician at Louisiana State Hospital, Pineville prior to her retirement. Mrs. East received her Bachelor's Degree from Meredith College, Raleigh, North Carolina and her Masters from LA Tech University, Ruston. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Margie enjoyed feeding and watching birds. She was a passionate gardener and enjoyed hours of reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Richard East; son, Paul Edward East; daughter, Frances Virginia East and seven brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Richard E. East, Jr. and wife, Nancy; daughters, Nancy Butterfield and husband, David, Pamela R. East and Leslie Ellen Brown; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Rick Farrar, Jarvis Harper, Todd Farrar, Mark Thiels, Lou Rackett and Wyatt Thiels.
Memorials may be made to Habitats for Humanities, BARKS or Woodland Presbyterian Church, Pineville.
