Leon "Matt" Jeffers

Funeral services for Leon "Matt" Jeffers will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 5, 2014 at Twin Bridges Baptist Church with Brother Chris Morris and Brother Brent Dix officiating. Burial will be in Hemphill Star Cemetery, Cotile under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.

The family requests that visitation be observed Sunday at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will continue on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Mr. Jeffers, 27, of Alexandria was born April 10, 1987 and went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 30, 2014.

Matthew "Matt" graduated with Honors from Bossier City High School in 2004. He served as Lance Cpl. with BRAVO CO 1/23 Second Platoon Infantry as a machine gunner in the United States Marine Corp. and served one tour in Iraq. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Billy P. Parker, paternal grandfather, Calvin Jeffers, Sr. and his uncle, Calvin Jeffers, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory include his girlfriend, Cori Irwin of Alexandria and their three children, Kaydence, Karter, and Kasen Jeffers; parents, Jennifer Parker of Alexandria and Leon Jeffers (Brenda) of Alexandria; sister, Mandy Jeffers-Wright; brother-in-law, Sandy Wright of Alexandria; maternal grandmother, Betty Parker of Alexandria; paternal grandmother, Adelina Jeffers of Alexandria; two nephews, Isaiah and Jeremiah Jeffers of Alexandria and numerous loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Donald Jeffers, John Jeffers, Sandy Wright, Paul McBride, Buddy Parker and Michael Carvan. Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Jeffers, Patrick Arthur, Stevie McBride, Shane Jeffers, Erin Fontenot and Aaron Medoff.
