A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of John Anthony Day will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral with Rev. Jim Ferguson officiating. Interment will be at Dark-Neal Cemetery, Boyce, LA. under the direction of John Kramer & Son.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014 and again from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the funeral home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014 at the funeral home.
John Anthony Day, 69, of Alexandria passed away on Thursday, June, 5, 2014 at Rapides Regional Medical Center.
John is preceded in death by his parents William Lee, Sr. and Marie Chicola Day.
John graduated from Bolton High School in 1963 and attended Northwestern State University and Louisiana College. John worked at City Park Fun Land where he met his wife of 50 years. John managed City Park Fun Land from 1977 till closing in 1986. John also was owner and operator of Putt Putt Golf and Games till it closed then became owner and operator of Day's Southern Pecans and MacArthur Drive Self Storage.
Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Fay Thompson Day; 4 children, Kitty Lynn Day, John Anthony Day, Jr. and wife Becky, Vicki Fay Hauk and husband Tom and Julie Marie Day; 3 siblings, William Lee Day, Jr (Donna Newell), Marie Theresa Morace (John Stewart), and Toni Louise Day (Donna Lemoine); 9 grandchildren; Kortney, Kathryn, Brock, Jade, Kannon, Thomas, Charli Fay, Sonnie Rae, Sammie Fae; 4 great-grandchildren, Nolan, Kelsey, Clifton and Kaelynn.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be T.A. Messina, Don Thompson, Mark Thompson, Billy Thompson, Frank Mobley, Tom Hauk, Thomas Hauk, and Doug Reeves.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Golman, Raymond Juneau, and Garrett Bordelon and Steven Romero.
