A funeral service celebrating the life of Edgar "Big Ed" Craig will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, June 13, 2014, in The Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville, with Brother Arvie Jolly officiating with eulogy by his nephew, Drew Rivers. Burial will follow at Craig Cemetery, Kolin.
Visitation will be observed at the funeral home Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and resume on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Pallbearers honored to serve are his grandsons, David Dauzat, Justin Blalock, Austin Ramos, Brian Dauzat, Michael Pharis and Joshua Pharis. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Barber and Zack Willis.
Mr. Craig, 77, of Kolin, passed from this life on Monday, June 9, 2014, at Oakhaven Community Care Center, Centerpoint.
He was a member of Palmer Chapel Presbyterian Church, the 7 Signs Hunting Club and had worked as Deck Foreman for Holsum Bakery for 37 years. Big Ed was an avid sportsman and loved his beagles and running rabbits. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend that never met a stranger and will be dearly missed by those that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara "Tena" Craig; grandson, Christopher Andrew Dauzat; parents, Mitchell and Anna Pennington Craig and his brothers, Sam Craig, Cecil Craig and James Craig.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Cindy Dauzat and husband, Rickey of Kolin, Bonnie Pharis and husband, Charles of Alabama and Connie Blalock and husband, Carl Wayne of Kolin; grandchildren, Meghan Russell, Shelly Blalock, Justin Blalock, David Dauzat, Tina Dauzat, Christy Reed, Tiffany Lester, Michael Pharis, Crystal Pharis Artelt, Danielle Pharis, Jasmine Wilder, Joshua Pharis and Charles Barber; 16 great grandchildren; brothers, Donton Craig of Kolin, Jerry Craig of Pineville; sister, Nadine Craig Linn of Pineville and a host of other family members and friends.
