Mrs. Marilyn Inez Peters, born Hawthorne, passed away on Thursday, August 07, 2014, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, after a brief illness. Mrs. Peters was born in Sailes, Louisiana, on August 22, 1917. She is preceded in death by her husband, Morris F. Peters, and three brothers, Jack Hawthorne, Bobby Hawthorne and Kenneth Hawthorne. She is survived by one son, Robert M. Peters, and two siblings, Nell Knotts and Lamar Hawthorne, as well as two grandchildren, Joseph F. Peters of Madison, Wisconsin, and Julie M. Newman of Seattle, Washington and three grandchildren, August, Sienna and Sophie, as well as nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Peters taught for nearly forty years, with most of those years spent at Pollock High School teaching home economics and biology. For nearly sixty-six years, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pollock but maintained her membership at Fairview Baptist Church for the last six years.
Visitation for Mrs. Peters will be from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2014, at Hixson Brothers Pineville. Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014, in the chapel of Hixson Brothers Pineville. Interment will follow at the Pollock Cemetery.
