Derald Winford Stokes

Derald, 77, of Alexandria, entered eternal rest on Monday, August 22, 2016 in Alexandria. He was born July 2, 1939 in Oakdale to the union of Charlie M. Stokes and Ada Hebert Stokes. He was a member of Twin Bridges Baptist Church and worked construction. While loving his native Louisiana, he loved living and working in Nashville for 20+ years and made numerous friends while living there. He was a Deacon and served many years in churches in Alexandria and Nashville. He loved life and never met a stranger, but most of all loved and cherished his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Rodney Perkins; and two brothers, Milton Stokes and Courtland Stokes.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are: his loving wife of 47 years, Marsha Stokes of Alexandria; two sons, Patrick Perkins of Deville and Derald Anthony Stokes of Henning, Tennessee; one daughter, Beverly Stokes of Nashville, Tennessee; one grandson, Steven Perkins; two great grandsons, Maddox Perkins and Rowan Perkins; two brothers, Julius Stokes and Lee Stokes both of Alexandria; three sisters, Verna Turrentine of Alexandria, Helen Squyres of Woodworth, and Mary G. Whitehead of Alexandria; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends
