Funeral services for Mervin Johnson will be at 3:30 P.M., Thursday, April 14, 2011 in the White Oaks Memorial Chapel with Rev. Nick Hodges officiating. Committal service will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Oakdale, under the guidance of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mervin, 74, of Oakdale, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in his residence. He was born on January 16, 1937 in Elizabeth to Robert Johnson and Victoria Willis Johnson Funderburk. He was a retired truck driver for Petron and was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church.
His parents precede him in death.
He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memory, devoted and loving wife of 53 years, Gracie Lee Perkins Johnson of Oakdale; two daughters, Diane Ware and husband, Jeff of Oakdale, Delores Vansworth and husband, David of Las Vegas, Nevada; three brothers, Larry D. Johnson and wife, Myra of Ville Platte, Edwin Funderburk of Simpson and, Jason Johnson and wife Wendy of Alexandria; four sisters, Elaine Maze and husband, Sonny of Maurice, Texas, Sharon Funderburk of Oklahoma, Violet White of Cloutierville, Jennifer Roy and husband, Wayne of Marksville; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends may call today from 9:00 A.M. until time of service in the White Oaks Memorial Chapel.
