Services for Cruz Valdez will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011, in the chapel of John Kramer & Son with Chaplain Clarence Hamilton officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Ball. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday.

Cruz Valdez, 81, of Alexandria, passed away April 20, 2011, in CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Perfecta Ortiz Valdez and Pilar Valdez and his first wife, Patricia A. Jeffcoat Valdez.

Cruz retired from the United States Air Force after twenty-seven years of service. He was a veteran of Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He retired from the City of Alexandria as a draftsman. He was a proud member of the Paul P. Benoit Memorial Chapter 7 Pineville/ Alexandria, Disabled American Veterans where he was commander from 2001-2003.

He is lovingly survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Mary Jane Valdez of Alexandria, eleven children, Debra Calhoun, Valerie Ballard, Joseph Cruz Valdez, Robert Valdez, Teresa Chaudoir, Rose Firnberg, Carmen Valdez, Angie Whitney, Mary Ann Lowery, Linda Bodkins and Wanda Lester and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family.
