Russell "Bud" B. Dickerson

Funeral services for Mr. Russell "Bud" Dickerson will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2011 in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville with Chaplain Monty Bower officiating, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.

Mr. Dickerson, age 79, of Dry Prong, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at his residence.

He was a longtime resident of the Poland Community, moving to Granite City, Illinois where he retired from Prairie Farms Dairy as a Production Superintendent, then moving back to Louisiana to retire in the Prospect Community. He was an avid golfer and a member of the LSUA Longshots. He loved to sing in the Church; and would sometimes break out in song for the nurses and staff that provided for him. He also worked part-time for Blue Bell Ice Cream.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Josephine Dickerson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carol R. Dickerson of the Prospect Community; three sons, Paul Michael Dickerson (Betty) of St. Louis, Missouri, Raymond Russell Dickerson (Kim) of Denver, Colorado, Justin James Dickerson (Dawn) of Prospect Community; four daughters, Cindy L. Fogerson (Chuck) of Pineville, Virginia Dickerson Bordelon (Buford) of Poland Community, Amanda J. McGuffin (Dennis) of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Sharon Dickerson Delaney (Jim) of Prospect Community; one brother, George Dickerson (Donna) of Spring Mills, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Helen Wise (Howard) of Spring Mills, Pennsylvania and Jeanne Gibson (Norm) of Anneville, Pennsylvania; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren.

Friends may call at Rush Funeral Home on Saturday, August 6, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Compassionate Care Hospice and the Waiver Staff that provided such excellent care.
