Douglas Miller

Services for Douglas Miller will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 20, 2011, at the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville, with Reverend Rickey Gremillion officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Pineville.

Visitation will be Friday, August 19, 2011, at Hixson Brothers, Pineville, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Mr. Miller, 92, of Tioga, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at his residence.

He was a member of Immaculate Heart Catholic Church. Mr. Miller was a veteran of WWII, serving in the 8th Army. He was wounded three times in St. Loe, France during the Invasion of Normandy and received a Purple Heart. He retired from the Alexandria Veterans Administration Medical Center as a Nursing Assistant.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Mae Mathews Miller; parents, John and Fannie Dunn Miller; daughter-in-law, Connie Miller.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Nancy A. Miller Ortego and husband Sheldon of S. Haven, Mississippi; sons, John D. Miller and wife Mary of Alexandria, Kenneth L. Miller of Goodletsville, Tennessee, Michael S. Miller and wife Cyndy of Tioga, A. Keith Miller and wife Teresa of Deville; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren; and special friend and caregiver, Patsy Tullis.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Miller, Shaun Miller, Stephen Ortego, Jeremy Ortego, John H. Miller, and Johnny Miller. Honorary pallbearer will be Anthony Northup.
