A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert "Bob" Davis will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2012, St. Rita Catholic Church with Rev. Craig Scott officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville with full military honors, under the direction of John Kramer & Son.
Friends are asked to call from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Sunday at John Kramer & Son.
Robert "Bob" Davis, 76, of Alexandria, entered into eternal rest on October 3, 2012, in CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Wilda Davis; three brothers, Samuel J. Davis (Ann); Francis E. Davis (Thelma)and James Wayne Davis; three sisters, Inez Calloway (Ralph); Mary Elizabeth Holton (Tom)and Ann Goodson (Tommy).
Bob was a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and a resident of Alexandria for the past forty-three years. He enjoyed Cajun food and culture, but held dear his Carolina roots.
After twenty-one years of service, he retired at the rank of Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force. He was also retired from The Management Company.
Bob was an avid golfer. His many accomplishments include representing the Air Force TAC golf team, winning the 1974 LA State Open and six club championships at Rapides Golf and Country Club.
He loved working in his garden and took great joy in sharing with his friends and family. Bob truly valued his family, friends and his relationship with the Lord.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Luanne Dunn Davis of Alexandria; daughter, Debra R. Davis of Pineville; stepdaughter, Renee B. Fabacher and her husband, Craig of Kenner and three endeared grandchildren, Brandon Davis; Rachel Fabacher and Matthew Fabacher. He will be especially missed by his faithful companion, Ming.
Bob is also survived by his sister, Betty J. Brown; brother, Jerry G. Davis of Winston- Salem, North Carolina and many nieces and nephews and their children.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Davis; Matt Fabacher; Craig Fabacher; Jerry Distefano; Paul Seeser and Roger Herrington. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rick Hedgecock; James Trotter; Menard Brouillette; Jim Manuel; Tom Jackson; Don Vidrine and Donell Chagnard.
The family requests that donations be made to the St. Rita Building Fund, 3822 Bayou Rapides Rd., Alexandria, LA 71303 or to the Food Bank of Central Louisiana, 3223 Baldwin Ave., Alexandria, LA 71301.
