Alice Cornelia Long Pray

Mrs. Alice Cornelia Long Pray, age 86 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012.

Born May 21, 1926 in Winn Parish, she worked as a hospital administrator for

22 years and was chief civil deputy under Sheriff Dan Page. She was a homemaker and a retired accountant. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Pray will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and just "Nanny". So many people were blessed by her wonderful cooking, quilting and genuine warm hospitality.

Mrs. Pray was preceded in death by her husband, D.O Pray, Jr., parents, Oscar and Lessie Long, two brothers, James A. and W.O. Long, sister, Mary Long and grandson, Dr. Alan Kyle Bozeman.

Those left to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Donnis Bozeman and husband Martin of Vivian, LA and Renee Keiffer of Winnfield; one son, Dr. Wayne "Butch" Pray of Winnfield; two sisters, Priscilla Bedgood and Scarlett Gates of Winnfield; six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends in the Southern Funeral Home on Sunday, October 7 from 12:00 Noon until 2:30PM.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, October 7, 2012 in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Tarver officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.

Serving the family as pallbearers will be Shafton Bailey, Rayford Riley, Jimmy Mercer, Jimmy Atwell, Kevin Shirley and William Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Williams, Roy Jones and Eugene Hand.
