Artie Lynn Quinn Blackburn

Funeral services for Mrs. Artie Lynn Quinn Blackburn will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 8, 2012 at Glenmora Baptist Church, Glenmora, Louisiana with Reverend Jason Townley officiating. Interment will be held in Roselawn Cemetery, Glenmora, Louisiana under the direction of Rush Funeral Home in Pineville.

Mrs. Blackburn, age 84, of Alexandria, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on October 5, 2012 at Matthews Memorial Nursing Center in Alexandria, Louisiana.

She was a native of Glenmora, Louisiana. She was a retired school teacher having taught at Glenmora and Oakdale schools for over 20 years. She was a member of Glenmora Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was a faithful wife, dedicated mother, grandmother and friend. She wasn't only a teacher in the school system, but in everyday life. She taught by example and lived out her faith by giving herself to others. She had a joyful spirit and a servant's heart. She made good out of any bad situation through her patience, encouragement, and humble spirit.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ruple and Florence Quinn; one grandchild, Cody Blackburn.

She is survived by her loving husband of sixty three years, Charles O. Blackburn of Alexandria, Louisiana; one son, Bill Blackburn (Suellen) of Alexandria, Louisiana; one sister, Fae Morgan of Kansas City, Kansas; two grandchildren, Megan Blackburn and Kacy Blackburn .

Visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home in Pineville on Sunday, October 7, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday at Glenmora Baptist Church from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Gaurdian Hospice and Matthews Memorial Nursing Home for their unselfish care.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Louisiana Special Ed Center for Cody Blackburn's Park.
