Elaine McFarland

Funeral services for Elaine McFarland will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Hemphill Star Church, Cotile with Reverend Steve Squyres officiating. Burial will be in Burrough Cemetery, Gardner under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.

The family requests that visitation be observed at the Church Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

Miss McFarland, 87, of Otis, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012 at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.

Elaine was a lifelong resident of Rapides Parish where she graduated from Boyce High School. She retired from the VA Hospital in Pineville with over 30 years of service. For many years she was an active member of the Eastern Star. Elaine enjoyed working with people, doing arts and crafts, especially painting and quilting. She enjoyed volunteer work and was recently recognized as Volunteer of the Year. In recent years she enjoyed visiting with her friends at the Senior Citizens Center in the Sieper and Wilda Communities. Elaine attended church at Hemphill Star Church on Cotile Lake. Elaine will be missed by her friends and family.

Her parents, Dr. Rufus L. McFarland, Sr. and Fannie (Wilkerson) McFarland; brothers, Rufus L. McFarland, Jr. and Kenny McFarland and wife, Ruby (Marler) McFarland; sister, Opal Lattier and husband, Lee Lattier and niece, Lanell (McFarland) Gaul, preceded her in death.

Those left to cherish her memory include her nephews, Wayne McFarland of Otis, Ronnie McFarland of Kurthwood and Kenneth Lattier of Pineville; nieces, Dorothy Furches of Delaware and Virginia Beth Leggett of Tennessee and sister-in-law, Maxine McFarland of Gardner.

Pallbearers honored to service will be Wayne McFarland, Dexter McFarland, Ronnie McFarland, Daniel McFarland, Floyd McFarland and Kenneth Lattier.
