Funeral services for Ward Daniel Johnson, Sr., will be held at 2 pm, Tuesday, November 27, 2012 in the Glenmora United Pentecostal Church with the Reverend Wesley Lester and Reverend Thompson Palmer officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Fort Polk Honor Guards. Committal services will follow in the Union Hill Cemetery of Glenmora under the guidance of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mr. Johnson, 68, of Alexandria, entered eternal rest on Saturday, November 24, 2012 in his residence. He was born on February 9, 1944 in Union Hill to the union of Jesse and Beatrice Cloud Johnson. He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as a carpenter and pipe fitter in construction. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two children, Jesse L. Johnson and Thomas G. Johnson; and one brother, Donald Ray Johnson.
He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memory, his loving companion, Loretta A. Johnson; one son, Ward Daniel Johnson, Jr. and wife, Laura of Pineville; one daughter, Lisa Gaudin of Colfax; three brothers, Joseph Johnson and wife, Loretta of Glenmora, Danny Dalton Johnson and wife, Debbie of Lecompte, and James Johnson of Pineville; two sisters, Mary Palmer and husband, Thompson Palmer of Pineville, and Madge Johnson of Pineville; six grandchildren, Andrea Hartley, Jamie Johnson, Michael Gaudin, Victoria Knight, Sierra Johnson, and Ryan Johnson; two great grandchildren, Avery Hartley and Alisia Hartley; and a host of family and friends.
Friends may call today from 10 am until 10 pm in the White Oaks Memorial Chapel and then on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 from 9 am until service time in the Glenmora United Pentecostal Church.
