A Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy "Dot" Jeansonne Gremillion will be Celebrated at 10 AM Wednesday December 5, 2012 in St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, with Rev. James Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville under the direction of John Kramer & Son.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday December 4, 2012 and 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of John Kramer & Son.
She is preceded in death by her parents Gea Lionel and Martha Lemoine Jeansonne, one daughter Catherine Elise "Cathy" Gremillion LaBauve, and her husband of 62 years Hanley Paul Gremillion Sr.
As a young adult Dot worked at Guaranty Bank and Trust Company until she married. She was the organist and choir leader for St. Rita Catholic Church. Dot is a 1943 graduate of Bolton High School. She was instrumental in the formation of Hanley Gremillion Millwork, where she was a major stock holder, officer and advisor. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Dot loved flower gardening, needle-work of all types and cooking for her family and friends. Dot was a member of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral since 1960, where she taught first communion classes and CCD. She was a great source of strength and inspiration to family and anyone who met her.
Dot is survived by her four children, Paula G. DePriest and husband Douglas of Alexandria, Martha G. Johnson of Alexandria, Claire G. Weeks of Boyce and Hanley P. "Chip" Gremillion Jr. of New Orleans; one son-in-law Keith LaBauve of Alexandria; two sisters Patricia J. "Pat" Cook and husband Sherman of Alexandria, Barbara Coco and husband Alfred "Buddy" Jr. of Alexandria; one brother Harold L. "Hap" Jeansonne Sr. and wife Lillie; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Paul Coco, Ed Coco, Guy Jeansonne, Guy Gremillion, Keith LaBauve and Steve Cook.
The family request memorials are made to St. Francis Xavier Cathedral Restoration Fund.
