Graveside services for Ms. Priscilla Rae Puckett Melder will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 26, 2012 with Reverend George Barrett officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.

The family requests that visitation be observed Wednesday at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria from 12:00 p.m. until time of service.

Ms. Melder, 69, of Alexandria passed away Friday, December 21, 2012 at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, after a long illness.

She was a graduate of Bolton High School Class of 1962, where she excelled in sports and served as an assistant coach to the basketball program. She was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints and enjoyed music and bingo. Ms. Melder founded the Alexandria Fire Fighters Lady's Auxiliary where she served as the chairman of a Memorial Fundraiser for two Alexandria Firemen and their families. She also served as chairman of one of the first Alexandria Chapter of the Easter Seal Fundraisers which has carried on to the present.

She was active in the Alexandria Community and work as a Real Estate Agent as well as Floor and Personnel Manager for a local retail chain. Her first job at age 14 was at "Fun Land", Alexandria City Park were she met many people she would call friends for life.

Priscilla's winning smile, kind words and sense of humor will be sadly missed by her family, friends and caregivers of the Lexington House.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen Wood Puckett, and Grace Ann Lewis Puckett; twin sister, Patricia Mae Puckett; brother, Charles Glen Puckett.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, John A. Melder and wife, Jane of Scottsdale, Arizona, Ronald G. Melder and his wife, Jessica of Kenner and David C. Melder and his wife, Carrie of Scottsdale, Arizona; four granddaughters, Madeline, Sarah, Olivia, and Norah; two grandsons, Kyle and Kurt, brother, Ronald W. Puckett and wife, Carolyn of Pineville; nephew, Michael of Pineville; niece, Deann of Pineville; her longtime friend and caregiver, Mona Lasyone of Alexandria.
