Services for CMSGT (Ret) Harold T. Smith will be held at 11:00 am January 7, 2013 in the Chapel of Griffin Funeral Home. Internment will follow in the field of honor in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Chief Master Sergent (Ret) died December 31, 2012 after a long illness at Grace Home. He was combat rated at 100%, plus being rated by the VA at 100% disabled. He was a U S Army Air Corp Veteran, who served in WWII and retired with 30 years service. He was a Flight engineer on a B-29 Aircraft, active in the bombing of Japan and participated in the dropping of both Atomic Bombs.

His tour of duties included, but not restricted to, Ft. Sill Army Training camp, Enid AFB primary training base, Dalhart AFB Dalhart, Texas, Amarillo training base, McCook AFB Advanced training base, Nebraska; Lincoln AFB advanced training Lincoln, Nebraska. During WWII, Guam, Saipan, Tinian, Vance AFB advanced training. Enid, Oklahoma 313 Air Division HQ Okiniawa Japan; Clark AFB Philippines, Chili. Turkey, Homestead AFB FI, England AFB Alexandria. LA, Ching Chang Kaun AFB. Taiwan China. Bien Woa and Saigon AFB Vietnam, two tours.

He was awarded the good conduct medal W/7 loops. American campaign Medal W/2 Devices, American Defense medal. EAME Campaign medal with 2 bronze stars; outstanding unit award with 2 devices. He was also the recipient of the Air Force Commendation medal W 1 star, distinguished presidential unit cititation with 3 stars. national service medal, Korean service medal with devises. During his two tours in Vietnam he was awarded the outstanding service award. plus their presidential award. He was also an active member of the chief club at Barksdale, and the Air Force Sergeants Assn. He was employed by Hibernia Bank and St. Mary's Training School after his retirement.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Bernice Ella Reed Smith; two daughters, Trixy Ann Lejeune of Ball and her two sons Zachary Lejeune currently deployed in

support of OEF, and Mathew Lejeune of San Mateo, California, Delynn Spinello of Brandon, Mississippi and her daughter, Jamie Spinello of Pfleugerville. Texas.

He is preceded in deathby his motherRose Malurla Smithand father Oscar T. Smith and a half brother, Melvin E. Smith.

A wake service will begin at 6 PM, Sunday, January 6. 2013 in Griffin (formally Forest Lawn) Funeral Home until 9 PM. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran. Missouri SYNOD Church at 4809 Masonic Dr. Alexandria, LA 71301
