Brenda Joyce Clifton

Funeral services for Brenda Joyce Clifton will be held at 11 am, Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church of Alexandria with the Brother James Dunkley officiating. Committal services will follow in the Oak Island Cemetery of Alexandria under the guidance of White Oaks Funeral Home, Alexandria.

Brenda, 48, of Alexandria, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 in the Grace Home of Alexandria. She was born on August 23, 1964 in Alexandria to the union of Sammy Davis, Sr. and Luretha Byrd Clifton. She was a day care worker at the Precious Beginnings for six years until her health failed. As a young child, she was baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church and began her relationship with God. On December 23, 2012 she was re-baptized in the Name of Jesus. She was a loving companion, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sammy Davis, Sr. and Luretha Byrd Clifton; four brothers, Sammy Davis, Jr., James Byrd, Arthur Clifton, and Roosevelt Clifton; and two sisters, Susie Clifton and Dorothy Davis.

She leaves behind her loving family to cherish her memory, her companion of twenty-seven years, Nikkie Gradley of Alexandria; four sons, Eugene Davis, Derieus Davis, Quincey Clifton all of Alexandria and Nikkie Clifton of Pineville; three brothers, Robert Clifton and wife Velma of Houston, Texas, Willie Davis and wife Margaret of Lafayette, and Freddie Clifton of New Orleans; one sister, Mary Lemons of Alexandria; one granddaughter, Heavenly Davis of Alexandria; and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers to serve will be Nikkie Gradley, Derrick Davis, Willie Lee Davis, Sr., Robert Lee Clifton, Anthony Clifton, Sr., and Willie Lee Davis, Jr.; Honorary pallbearers to serve will be Nikkie Clifton, Jermaine Davis, Quincey Clifton, Eugene Davis, and Derieus Davis.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 9 am until service time in the church.
