Reverend James Leland Adams

Graveside services for Reverend James Leland Adams were held at 2:00 p. m., Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville with Reverend Caroline Fletcher officiating, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Pineville.

Reverend Adams, 86, of Pineville, passed from this life on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Lexington House.

His wife, Erma Jewel Adams and sons, David Adams and Mark Adams, preceded him in death.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Mike Adams from Alexandria. Also, he is survived by three sisters, Merle Hudson, Ruth Hall and Kay Freathy all of Mississippi and a host of other family members and friends.

James served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. When he returned from service, he studied and graduated from Millsaps College. He then went on to complete his divinity degree at Vanderbilt University.

Reverend Adams was a Minister at First United Methodist Church. He served as pastor of churches in Mississippi and Tennessee before coming to Louisiana to serve in Iota, Luling, LaPlace, Jena, Jonesboro, Summer Grove, Tullulah, Crowley, and Bossier City. He then relocated to Alexandria to serve as District Director of Retired Ministers Homes.

After retiring from the Ministry, Reverend Adams became a real estate agent in Central Louisiana. He was broker and team member of Erma Adams Realty. He enjoyed working as IT Manager for the Real Estate office. He was continually updating the computer systems in order to stay on the cutting edge of technology.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Lexington House for the special care given to "Mr. James" over the past years.
