Robert L. (Bob) Hicks, 86, of Fairfield Community passed from this life on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, in Grace Home, Alexandria.
He proudly served as an MP in the United States Army. He was a member of Hebron Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, hunting and fishing and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather that will be dearly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Susan Eunice and Harvey Ambers Hicks; sisters, Katherine Jones, Oneta Burnum, Eola McGaha and Nelda Johnson; brothers, Wesley (BO) Hicks, Harvey (JR) Hicks and Earl Hicks; great grandson, Harrison Tarter.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 62 years, Jewel (Judy) Jones Hicks; children, Rick Hicks (Joy), Donna Gatlin (Eddie), Beckie Hicks, Michael Hicks (Rena); Sisters, Janell Johnson (Minden) and Mary Nugent (Wyatt); grandchildren, Danita Walker (Dewayne), Betsy Dunaway, Susan Carbo (Greg), Nora Gatlin, Jamie Vercher, Page Tarter (Chris), Elise Haagenson (Stephen), Justin Pearman and Keenan Lieberth; 12 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Josh Daniels, Brian Danzy, Harold Ray Hicks, Jimmy Hicks, Glynn Johnson, Doug Evers, Lynn Fredieu and Jarrod Debusk. Honorary pallbearers are The Male Sunday School Class at Hebron Baptist Church.
The family asks that visitation be observed Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Hebron Baptist Church, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and resume Friday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
Services celebrating the life of Robert Hicks will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 15, 2013 at the church with Pastors Richard Debusk, Lloyd Whitman and Travis Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers.
