Howard W. Funk, a resident of Alexandria, entered eternal life on March 19, 2013, at the age of 83. Mr. Funk served in the Army and was a veteran of World War II. For more than 20 years, he worked for the City of Alexandria as the Superintendent of Wastewater.
In later years, Howard obtained his pilot's license and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter 614.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Howard will be held at Griffin Funeral Home in Ball, Louisiana from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013, with Minister Robert Boyt officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Howard is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth Funk, and brother, Elmer Funk and wife Helen. Children; Tommy Funk and wife Alice, Mary Dickie, Charlotte Funk, and step-son, John Laws and wife Patrice. Grandchildren; Emily Mendler and husband Thomas, Mary, Caroline Abarca and husband Ronnie, John Daniel Laws, and Erica Funk. Great-grandchildren; Camille and Bennett Mendler, and Ava Funk.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Scott and Francis Funk, as well as nine siblings.
