Veda Franklin Mulkey

Funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Veda Franklin Mulkey will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013, in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria, with the Reverends Jeff White and David Boothe officiating, with family reflections by her daughter, Beth White, and songs to be sung by her grandson, Gary White. Interment will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville.

The family asks that friends call after 10:00 a.m. until time of service Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mulkey, 92, of Alexandria, passed from this life into the presence of her dear Lord, Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Riverside Hospital of Alexandria, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Mulkey was a graduate of Louisiana College in Pineville and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.

Prior to her marriage to S. M., she worked on the staff of the Louisiana Baptist Convention in the Sunday School Department.

Even in her later years, she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Alexandria and was instrumental in the success of Home Bound Ministries.

Her husband, Reverend S.M. Mulkey; son, Gary Dawson Mulkey; daughter, Karen Mulkey Bradford; parents, D.C. and Bettye McCann Franklin and brother, Dawson Cleveland Franklin, Jr. precede her in death.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Beth Mulkey White and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Gary White, Stephen White, Amy White Brown, Aaron Bradford, Nathan Bradford and their dad, Chuck Bradford, as well as a great grandson, Seth Brown.

Pallbearers honored to serve are Jeff White, Gary White, Stephen White, Joseph Brown, Aaron Bradford, Nathan Bradford, and Chuck Bradford.

Memorial may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Homebound Ministries, 5011 Jackson Street, Alexandria, LA, 71303

The family would like to express our great love, appreciation, and gratitude to Compassionate Care Hospice, who lovingly ministered to Mrs. Mulkey and her family.

Veda was truly an inspiration. She took great care of SM and after his homegoing she continued to serve her Lord by serving others. What a wonderful life illustration of a true follower of Christ.
