Robert Carswell Lowther, Jr. was born August 7, 1948 at Baptist Hospital (Rapides Regional Medical Center) in Alexandria, Louisiana. Robby graduated from Bolton High School in 1968 and received a basketball scholarship from Louisiana State University. Throughout his life he was exceptionally active in sports, playing basketball, baseball and golf, in addition to coaching and teaching. While attending L.S.U., he became a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Robby continued studies and in 1975 received a Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University School of Law and a Certification of Post Doctorate Legal Studies from the University of Thessoloniki, Greece. Robby was a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association. In 1974, Robby married Mariellen Maciasz from New Roads and subsequently opened the law firm, Lowther & Boone, in Many, Louisiana. At that time, he purchased the Sabine Index, the local weekly newspaper. His interest in horses and racing led him to create the horse farm, "Beau Salael," in 1984, where he raised and bred thoroughbreds in Blanchard, Louisiana. In 1988, he and his family moved to Covington, La. where he continued to practice law for another 19 years. His later years were spent traveling in Costa Rica and Thailand, studying culture, religion and history. Robby loved playing golf, fishing, flying, writing, cooking and teaching. He had an innate ability to find humor in all things.

Those left to cherish his memories are his father and mother, Robert Carswell and Merriam Hanesworth Lowther, daughter Maciasz Elysia Lenahan and husband Christian Daniel Lenahan of Duluth, Ga., daughter Sarah Merriam Scafide and husband John Andrew Scafide III of Spring, Texas, son Robert Laef Lowther and wife Sarah Ward Lowther of Mandeville, brother Bradley Hanesworth Lowther of Baton Rouge, and sister Martha Merriam Burns and husband Michael Eugene Burns of Pearland, Texas., seven grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, family and cherished friends who loved him dearly.
