Mr. Ova Lee Hattaway, 88 of Poland entered eternal life on January 18, 2014 at his residence. Born June 25, 1925 to the union of Luther Lish Hataway and Mary Elizabeth Beaubouef Hataway.

A service celebrating Mr. Hattaway's life will be held on Thursday January 23, 2014 in the Chapel of Griffin Funeral Home Ball at 12 noon with Reverends Lyndon Marcotte and Carl David Scroggs officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Friends are asked to visit with the family in the Funeral Home starting at 10:00 A.M. until time of service on Thursday.

Mr. Hattaway is survived by his wife of 66 years, Valerie "Vicky" Bond Hattaway; daughter, Sherry (Glenn) Peterson; son, Gary (Connie) Hattaway; six grandchildren, Brian Hattaway, Candace (Will) Bain, Courtney Hattaway, Matt (Katie) Peterson, Lindsey (Jay) Bertrand, and Chris Hattaway and six great-grandchildren, Bailey, Avery and John Brian Hattaway, Luke and Nick Bain, Abigail Bertrand, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and twelve brothers and sisters.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Corp, having served in World War II and the Korean War.

Pallbearers to serve will be Brian Hattaway, Matt Peterson, Chris Hattaway, Will Bain, Chad Scroggs and Jay Bertrand.

Honorary pall bearers are Jack Hathorn,Charlie Perry, Billy Davis and Oliver McMickens.

The family would like to thank Gamble Hospice for their care of pawpaw, especially Deanna, Barbara, Pam and Vickie.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Poland Baptist Church, 3323 Highway 457, Alexandria, LA 71302
