Memorial services for Mr. Henry Micheal Monk will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014 in Bethany Baptist Church, Glenmora under the direction of Rush Funeral Home. Minister A.J. Trosclair will be officiating.

Micheal went to his Heavenly home on July 22, 2014 in his residence in Peculiar, Missouri. His body will rest in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.

Micheal was the second of eight blessings born on February 26, 1953 to John Henry Monk and Fannie Luller Todd Monk in Coushatta, La. Their first born son was a graduate of Glenmora High School in May 1971. In December of 1972 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Michael spent the next twenty years serving his country. During his service he was stationed in North Carolina, Okinawa, Japan, Georgia, Kansas City, Missouri, and New Orleans, La. He received numerous awards and medals and retired as a Master Sargent (E-8). Michael loved the Lord God and his family far and near. He had a giving heart and enjoyed serving God by helping his neighbors, friends and even strangers. His faithful service included mission trips to S. Fork, CO, Casper, WY, New Orleans, LA (after Katrina), Gulf Port and Bay St. Louis, MS (after Katrina) and Joplin, MO (after tornado).

Micheal was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Monk; Brother, Billy Monk; and his nephew Jason Winegeart.

Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his mother, Fannie Monk; two daughters: Rachel Monk and Micheala Driskell; one granddaughter, Talya Nicole McKee; four sisters: Ellen Winegeart, Peggy Godley, Elaine Wells, Gail Greene; two brothers: Earl Monk and Troy Monk; many nieces and nephews as well as a host of other family and friends. He also raised Julie Lowry Masden who has Mackenzie and Joshua and Krystina Lowry Erichsen who has Mason and Kyerstin.

Friends may call at Bethany Baptist Church, Glenmora, Saturday, August 2, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
