Joseph Claiborne Barry, Jr. passed away at his home in Crawfordville, FL, on January 29, 2013.

He was raised in Birmingham, AL. Joe served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1959 and following his time in the Army, he attended University of Alabama and then completed his degree at Florida State University. From 1963-1983 he was employed by Chevron Oil Company and then moved on to own and operate Parkway Wrecker Standard till 1983. From 1983-2008 he owned and operated Barry Enterprises Inc.
Joe was a man of conviction and believed in always giving back to the community. During his life, he was a board member for Habitat for Humanity and Keep Wakulla Beautiful. He was an active fund raiser for the Senior Center and United Way. Joe also participated in the Wakulla County Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, and Emerald Isle Society. In 1999, Joe was name Rotarian of the year and in 2002 was named "Man of the Year" for Wakulla County. Joe was a strong Christian man and very passionate about his beliefs, which led him to assisting in the raising of funds to open a new Church, Prison Ministries of Christ Church Anglican.
Joseph Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Johnnie Barry; and his grandson, Mac Crutchfield.
He leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Betty Harley Barry; and six children, Donna Barry Smiley (Richard Smiley), Joseph C. Barry III (Mary Barry), Margaret Barry Crutchfield (Charlie Crutchfield), Kinney S. Harley Jr., Frances "Wendy" Harley (Paul Earnhart), Sue Ann Smith (Paul Smith); a sister, Patsy Daily; and grandchildren, Jordan Smiley, Sydney Smiley, Peyton Barry, Olivia Barry, Parker Barry, Savanah Crutchfield, Jason Earnhart, William Smith, Bailey Smith, Reid Smith and Sam Smith.
The service will be held at Culley's Funeral Home located at 1737 Riggins Road Tallahassee, FL, on Saturday, February 2nd at 11:00am with a reception to follow.
