Hoyle Lincoln "Buster" Mathis Sr., 85, of Sopchoppy, died at home with his loving family, Aug. 29, 2018.

He graduated Leon High School and was a member of the National Guard for approximately 7 years. He retired from the Olin Corporation, where he worked as an Electrician and Maintenance Supervisor/ Management. Buster loved to bass fish, hunt and spend time with his family. He enjoyed pitching baseball and softball and was an avid FSU fan. He was a member of the River of Life Church.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Almyra Vause Mathis; children Hoyle Lincoln "Linc" Mathis Jr., Joseph Lamarr Mathis and his wife Wendy, Marcia Anna Mathis and Andrea Cayson and her husband Sedita; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family received friends Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. at the West Sopchoppy Cemetery and the Funeral Service began at 10 a.m. Burial followed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308; or (850) 878-5310.
