James A. "Jimmy" Cox Jr., 69, of Smith Creek, died at the Margaret Z. Dozier Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family, January 22, 2018. After graduating Port St. Joe High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served 4 tours and was awarded 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. When Jimmy returned home, he worked and then retired as a Lineman with Gulf Power Company.

He is survived by his wife Lori Langston Cox, his mother Genie Cox, son-in-law David O'Neal Smith, children Loranda, Britney & Caleb Hutton, brother Blane Cox & wife Lisa, and 2 grandchildren Gage & Hunter Hevener. Predeceased by his father James A. Cox Sr. and daughter Jamalyn Cox Smith.

A Memorial Service will be Saturday, February 3, 2018, 11:00 am at the Veteran's Memorial Park at Beacon Hill in Gulf County. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Tallahassee at a later date.
