Janie Sue Harrell, 87, of Sopchoppy, FL passed away on July 19, 2017.

She was born in Smith Creek, FL and was a lifelong resident of Wakulla County. She was a member of Mt. Beasor Baptist Church where she loved to sing in the choir. She was retired from the Leon County School System where she cooked for Caroline Brevard Elementary School for 19 years as head chef. She loved to prepare food for her family. She enjoyed the simple things in life and never met a stranger. Family and church were always first in her thoughts.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jay Harrell; daughter, Regina Louise Harrell Campton (Mike); grandchildren, Chris Compton (Kelley), Suzy Compton Bennett (Jon) and Sydney Compton; great grandchildren, Mila and Roux Bennett and Beau Compton; numerous nieces and nephews and loving family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Beasor Baptist Church Building Fund, 29 Winthrop Avenue, Sopchoppy, FL 32358 or Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, FL 32308.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Gertrude Langston; brothers, Maximo and Jimmy Langston; sisters, Marguerite Ward, Thelma Grimes, and June Langston.

Visitation will be Friday, July 21, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bevis Funeral Home, Harvey Young Chapel in Crawfordville. Services will be Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Beasor Baptist in Sopchoppy with burial to follow at Mt. Elon Cemetery.
