Lillian "Tweedle" Dwyer McCann, 92, passed away after a long illness on July 5, 2018.

She is survived by her children, Paula Mahaney, John McCann (Karen), Frank McCann (Teresa), all of Crawfordville; and Megan McCann (Len Lescosky) of Highland Park, Ill; her brother, Lawrence (Monk) Dwyer, and sister, Claris Melvin, both of Bedford, Ind.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband, Leo Joseph McCann; her son, Patrick Abel; and her daughter, Sunny Lou Rothenhoefer.

Known affectionately her entire life as Tweedle, she was born in Martin County, Ind., on November 11, 1927 to Patrick and Josephine Dwyer (née Hill). Tweedle graduated from Shoals High School in 1945 and continued to live and raise her family in Indiana until 1979, when her job with General Motors took her to Albany, GA. Her husband, Leo, retired from Chrysler before their move to Georgia.

In Georgia, Tweedle became more involved in the local United Auto Workers union, serving as president in the 1980s. Upon her retirement, Tweedle and Leo moved to Fort Myers. After Leo's death in 1992, Tweedle moved to Crawfordville to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Tweedle's family and friends will remember her as a strong, independent, and intelligent woman with a penchant for irreverent humor. She loved playing cards (always for money), estate sales, and politics. She was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be forever missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice, Tallahassee, FL.
