Louis Charles "L.C." Spears, 85, of Crawfordville, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018 after an extended illness.

He was born in Wakulla County, to the late Revadee and Mildred Spears on June 11, 1932. He completed his education at Lively Technical School in Tallahassee. He was a U.S. Army veteran with the rank of Sergeant and served with the 180th Calvary Regiment in the Korean conflict. One of the more significant actions was the 180-infantry connection with the 45th Infantry in the assault against Old Baldy and Pork Chop Hill. He was awarded the Bronze Star National Defense Service Medal. He was a long-time employee of Pyrofax Gas Company before becoming employed with Seaboard Coastline Railroad from approximately 1968 until he retired in 1984. L.C. was a dedicated and loyal member of Ivan Assembly of God Church.

He is survived by his sons, William J. Spears (Nancy) of Tallahassee, Jimmy Ratcliff and Dale Ratcliff (Carmen); step-daughter, Dortha (Dottie) Culbertson (Richard). He was a beloved brother to sisters Virginia Waldrop, Marlene Jefferies (Edward), Elayne Huebner (Sheldon), sister-in-law, Pat Nichols (Ned). He is survived by nephews Keith Jefferies, Kenneth Jefferies, Dennis Bennett, Donald Bennett, Larry Bennett, Maston Metcalf, Christopher Huebner and nieces, Andrea Lovecamp, Alexa McGowan, Rennie Bailey, Joanna Plunkett and Janice Nichols.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Johnnie Merle Spears.

LC was well loved by friends and family. His many nieces and nephews took joy in each time he was with them.

Family will receive friends and family on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ivan Assembly of God Church in Crawfordville, with a Celebration of His Life at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018 at the Church. Burial will follow at Ivan Assembly of God Cemetery.
