William (Dick) Barfield, age 87, of Plant City, passed away on December 11, 2017. A native of Cairo, Georgia, he was born October 5, to the late William and Goldie Proctor Barfield.

He attended Monticello High School and graduated from Florida State University.

In 1955 he married Amanda Daughtry and they had two children, Sammy Kessel and Sonia Kaye; and were blessed with many grandchildren.

He started his teaching career right after college and to be near family he took a position at Sopchoppy High School and continued his career at the new Wakulla High School in 1967. He eventually ended his teaching career after 33 years in Naples, FL at Lely High School. He loved his job as an educator.

He was a very compassionate person, caring for others which led him to become a C.N.A. in Plant City. When the topic of retirement came up he would say, "One more year." And by 80 years old he finally retired to live out his life with his wife Jeana. They were married for 34 years. He was a member of Full Gospel Tabernacle in Plant City. Dick enjoyed cooking, gardening, and singing.

He will be greatly missed by his children and grand children.
