SULLIVAN - Earl Warren Butler, 87, of Sullivan, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at this home.
The son of Marion John and Olive Grace (nee Freeman) Butler, Earl was born in Wellington on July 1, 1926. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1945 and was a member of the Ashland College Class of 1951. Earl served his country in the Army during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific.
Following his military service, he worked for Cleveland Steel. Earl retired from Rockwell International. He was a member of the VFW, Eagles, and Masonic Lodge in Wellington. Earl enjoyed watching football and taking family hunting and fishing trips to his cabin in Canada.
Survivors include his children, Joyce (Larry) Jordan of Sullivan and Richard (Pat) Denbow of Wise, Va.; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; brothers Clyde A. (Joyce) Butler and Kenneth R. (Shirley) Butler, both of Amherst, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 40 years, Joreta; and a brother, Paul.
Visitation was held at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home on Tuesday, Nov. 12 with the Rev. Tom Keller officiating. Burial was at Sullivan Southview Cemetery.
