Mary Boss died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013.
She was a lifelong resident of Rochester until she and her husband of 65 years, Paul "Jack" Boss, moved to New London in 1995.
She was devoted to her Rochester United Methodist Church family and enjoyed working with children and young people there.
Mary was active in the Rochester Fire Department Auxiliary and the homecoming committee, and enjoyed visiting friends and neighbors on behalf of various other charities.
She celebrated the simple things in her life - rowdy kids, her rose garden, tree swings, dandelion bouquets, baseball (particularly the Cleveland Indians and Little League), rock and roll music on her radio, bike rides, walks in the rain, rainbows, snowfall, sunrises, starry nights, pecan pie with whipped cream, and a cup of good coffee. She seized any excuse to instigate a family party.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul "Jack" Boss on Jan. 7.
Mary was a devoted Mother to Jim and Pam (Bilton) Boss of Wakeman, Steve and Andrea (Barnes) Boss, and Jean and John Copley of New London, all of whom she declared to be her "claims to fame." Mary was beloved "Gran" to seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Friday, Jan. 25 at Rochester United Methodist Church.
In lieu of other remembrances or flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts be directed to the Rochester United Methodist Church, 2001 South State St., Rochester, OH 44090.
