Otto Geist Jr., 61, of New London, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at his home.

He was born April 9, 1951, in Oberlin, son of the late Otto T. and Blanche (Green) Geist Sr.
He was a lifelong resident of New London.
Otto was a 1970 graduate of New London High School/EHOVE Career Center agriculture mechanics program.
He worked at Ford Motor Co. in Lorain for 36 years, retiring in 2006. Otto then worked for McClaflin Farms.
He was a lieutenant with the Rochester Fire Department, a member of the Wellington Eagles 2051, New London Knights of Columbus Our Lady of Lourdes, a member of the Community of Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Nova, and the Morning Breakfast Club in New London at the Wildcat Café.
Otto enjoyed farming and was a farmer at heart.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sandy (Holmer) Geist, whom he married Dec.1, 1972; children Jill (Oliver) Dettman of Westland, Mich., Teri (Dan) DiVincenzo of Parma, and Will (Jewel) Geist of Old Brooklyn; grandchildren Maddison and Ellery Roberts and Cooper Dettman; brother, Sid (Gail) Geist of New London; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Community of Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 240 SR 511, Nova, Ohio, with Fr. Thomas Gilles and Fr. John Mullee officiating.
Burial will follow at Rochester Center Cemetery.
