Paul F. "Jack" Boss, 84, of New London, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Brethren Care Nursing Home, Ashland.
He was born Aug. 17, 1928, in West Liberty, Ohio, son of the late Paul E. and Irene F. (Keenan) Boss.
Paul lived in Rochester from 1948 until he moved to New London in 1988.
He had worked at Thew Shovel for 30 years in Lorain, Wellington Implement for five years, Anvil Attachments in Wellington for five years, and retired from Roth Manufacturing, New London, in 1992.
He also was an independent electrical appliance repairman in the 1960s and 1970s. Paul was a founding member of the Rochester Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary E. (Williams) Boss, whom he married Jan. 3, 1947; his children, Jean (John) Copley of New London, Jim (Pam) Boss of Wakeman, Steve (Andi) Boss of New London; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; siblings Martha Myers of Florida, Carl Boss of Oberlin, Benjamin "Gene" Boss of Ashland, and a half-sister, Betty Lee of Lima.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Eastman Funeral Home in New London.
Private burial will be at East Creek Cemetery.
The Boss family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Rochester Fire Department, 200 Eagle St., Rochester, OH 44090.
