Donald L. Fahler (1928 - 2013)

Donald L. Fahler, 85, of Wellington, died Friday, April 5, 2013, at the Elms Retirement Village.
He was born Jan. 1, 1928, in Strattanville, Pa., to the late Leroy and Mary (Sleppy) Fahler. Don grew up in Chatham and moved to the Wellington area as a young adult.
Donald poudly served in the U.S. Army and the National Guard during the Korean Conflict.
Following his time in the service, Don owned and operated Fahler's Garage in Wellington.
He was active in his community, serving as president and vice president with both Wellington Schools and the Lorain County JVS. Donald was also a zoning inspector for Wellington Township and served with the Wellington auxiliary police.
Donald is survived by his children, Elaine Dobney of Wilmington, Carl Fahler and Norma Fahler-Mayer of Wellington, Dolores Fahler of Michigan, and Wally Fahler of Wellington; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and brother, Gerald Fahler of Wellington.
Don was preceded in death by his step-father, Ellis "Doc" Caywood; brother, Ivan Fahler; and sister, Ila Farrar.
Friends will be received on Thursday, April 11 at 10 a.m. with a memorial service at noon. Pastor Larry Nocella will officiate.
