Harlan A. Blanchard

Harlan A. Blanchard, 86, son of Clarence and A. Louise Blanchard, passed away at his house at 11 Stuart St., on May 14, 2013.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Ethel; son, Harlan E. Blanchard and his wife Penny; his daughter, Susan Longolucco and her husband, Stephen; his sister, Nancy Kinnear and her husband, Paul; and sister-in-law Jessie Blanchard.
Harlan was a member of the Dunn's Corners Church Presbyterian, and a life member of the Westerly Yacht Club.
Harlan served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Harlan was employed at the Bradford Dyeing Association as a dyer in the lab.
For many years he owned and operated Blanchard Chevron Station at the junction of routes 2 and 49.
In 1984, he purchased J.C.'s of Watch Hill, a ladies swim and sportswear shop that he operated with his wife for 25 years.
He especially enjoyed his seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, golf and working in his yard.
Harlan was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Roger Blanchard.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 19, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Dunn's Corners Church Presbyterian, 221 Post Road, Westerly.
Calling hours are respectfully omitted. Burial will be private.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home.
