Averell Houghton Obituary
She is survived by sons, David and Nicholas Houghton; grandchildren, Holly, Ali and Will Houghton; and her sister, Alison Turner.
Averell was born in New York City, went to Chapin School and received an associates degree from Columbia University. She lived in New York and summered in Westerly, R.I. until she permanently moved to Stonington in 1982. In New York, Averell was president of the Bellevue Hospital Auxiliary Board where she served for ten years. She was the manager of the Shelter Harbor Inn in Westerly from 1988 to 2008. Averell was married to Francis X. Houghton, who died in 1990. Averell met Henry Lebejko, who she described as the love of her life. Henry and Averell enjoyed dogs, walks, drives in the country and Henry's amazing cooking on the grill. Henry died in 2012.
In her spare time Averell was an amazing gardener and cook. She celebrated her 80th birthday last December with children and grandchildren. She loved her dogs, Abbey and Shelby, and she will be very missed.
Per the families wishes, services will be private.

Dear Tim and Family: We are so sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. She was a lovely person, friendly and lived each day to the fullest. What a beautiful estate she had. When she met Hank that was the happiest time in their lives. They were so compatible and enjoyed a very happy relationship. May she rest in peace.

Nick and Family,
I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. She was one of my faithful clients whom I saw every month. I'll miss our wonderful conversations about family ,life and our beloved pets. She was always smiling. She'll be missed by all of us who knew her. My heartfelt sympathy to you all.
