Bruce Willard Miller

Bruce Willard Miller passed away at home in Voluntown, CT, on Friday, August 30, 2013 under the care of the Center for Hospice Care of SE Connecticut after a two year courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on October 14, 1953 in Westerly, Rhode Island, son of the late, Commander Thomas Lloyd Miller, USN retired, and Madeline Russell Miller. He has resided in the Voluntown area for over thirty years, and was raised in Stonington, CT where his father was the founder of The Miller Ford Co. Bruce attended Pine Point School, where his family was one of the original founders. His family moved to Coconut Grove, Florida in 1963, where he attended The Ransom School.
He is survived by his devoted companion of twenty years, Milita Wall, of Voluntown; his daughter, Nadya Lynn Spencer of Forked River, NJ and his brother, Lloyd Miller of Monkton, MD. He was pre deceased by his brother Russel Tallman Miller and sister, Lindsay Robinson Miller.
Mr. Miller's family would like to extend a special thank you to his doctors at the Yale Smilow Cancer Center, and
to Dr. James Haldas and Dr. Richard Hellman of the Oncology & Hematology Associates at New London, CT.
Also, to all of the staff at The Center for Hospice Care SE Connecticut for their compassionate care and to the staff
at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital. He was a self employed carpenter, and his favorite interests were fishing from his boat, cruising the waters of Block Island and Fisher's Island Sound, and growing vegetables from his garden at home. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 4th at 3:00 pm at the Stonington Cemetery 345 N. Main St. Stonington. The Mystic Funeral Home, Route 1, Mystic, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
