John Daniel Ralls Sr., of Groton, CT, 93, beloved husband of Eleanor (Evans) Ralls for 65 years, died August 16th. Born in Culpepper, VA, the son of Grant and Lillian (Glascoe) Ralls, John was a proud graduate of Westerly High School. He served 4 years in India during World War II as a Sergeant in the Army Corps of Engineers. After the war, John worked as a Floorman at Stonington's American Velvet for 43 years. John was a long-time member of Pleasant Street Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he'll be sadly missed by his four children: Ellen Jones, Pamela Thornton, John Ralls Jr., and Barbara Turner; numerous siblings and their spouses; three sons-in-law; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be this Friday, August 23, at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic from 10 – 11a.m. immediately followed by the funeral service at 11. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic. In lieu of flowers, kindly send donations to the Pleasant Street Baptist Church Renovation Fund.
