Michael A. "Mickey" Cofone, 89, beloved husband for 58 years of Lena (Silvestri) Cofone, of Mayflower Ave., Pawcatuck, passed away at Apple Rehab Watch Hill on Thursday, March 27, 2014.
Born in Westerly, he was a son of the late Antonio and Marietta Cofone.
Mickey was the co-owner and operator of Sandy's Fruit Company. A US Army Veteran of WWII, he was also a former member of the Westerly Lodge of Elks.
In addition to his wife, he will be dearly missed by a brother, Samuel A. Cofone of Ashaway; five sisters, Nancy Cozzolino, Stella Ligouri, Ann Roland Cofone and Rose Marie Christina, all of Westerly and Eleanor Ritzie of Mystic. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10 a.m., in Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High St., Westerly. There is no procession to the church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Michael's Church Building Fund, 60 Liberty St., Pawcatuck, CT 06379, in Mickey's memory.
