Bonnie J. (Brainard) Ayer, 55, of Lake Drive, Oakdale, Conn., passed away at WW Backus Hospital on Friday, June 22, 2012. She was the longtime companion of Robert Royal.
Born in Westerly, she was the daughter of Charles R. Brainard Sr. of Pawcatuck, and the late Catherine B. Brainard.
Bonnie worked in security at Millstone before becoming a Senior Health Physics Technician for Bartlett Nuclear, where she worked for many years. She enjoyed horseback riding as well as motorcycles. She was also one of the first female Sea Scouts in Pawcatuck.
In addition to her companion and father, Bonnie leaves a brother, Charles R. Brainard Jr., and a sister, Barbrette A. Pettini, both of Westerly. She was predeceased by two sisters, Brenda M. Wilcox and Barbara J. Brainard.
Visiting hours are omitted. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly.
