Carol Diana (Hier) Letson passed away Wednesday evening at William W. Backus Hospital, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Crown Point, N.Y., on June 10, 1936, the daughter of the late Lorraine (Cossey) Hier Moore and the late William Hier. She is predeceased by her husband of many years Donald W. Letson; a daughter, Wendy Lynn Letson; and twin sons, Donny and Danny Letson.
She is survived by three sons and their wives: Bryan Letson, Sr., and wife Debra Ann of Bradford, R.I.; Scott Letson and wife Gail of Westerly, R.I.; and William Letson and wife Anne of Lisbon, Conn., whom she lived with and was taken care of by. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Bryan II, Candace Zubee, Mackenzie, Connor, Nicole Stanley and Eldie, along with one great-grandchild.
Carol is also survived by her sister, Cheryl O' Connor and her husband Jerry of Ticonderoga, N.Y., several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, and a very faithful friend Cheryl Bourret.
Not only was Carol an avid reader and quilter, she was also a big fan of Billy Ray Cyrus and a devoted fan of the UCONN Huskies Women's basketball team and the Mohegan Sun Women's basketball team whom she followed faithfully until her health would no longer permit her to travel.
Carol was a member of the Newent Congregational Church in Lisbon, where she made many new friends. She was an active participant at the Lisbon Senior Center.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 3, at the Newent Congregational Church, 12 South Burnham Highway, Lisbon, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., followed by a service from 7:30 to 8 p.m.
Carol's final resting place will be alongside her husband Donald in Ticonderoga, N.Y.
